Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation

PROYA closely monitors the global climate change situation and places great emphasis on managing it. PROYA sees responding to climate change as a material task for ESG management. Based on identifying the sources of greenhouse gas emissions throughout the value chain, we strive to expand our efforts to reduce carbon footprint to the entire product life cycle. From the acquisition of raw materials, manufacturing, packaging, all the way to warehousing and logistics, we implement effective measures to diminish the carbon footprint of our products.

    • Promotion of Environmental Management Awareness
      In 2024, weconducted training sessions for all employees on environmental protection, covering topics such as environmental laws and regulations, the company's environmental management system, energy management, water resource usage and management, as well as the disposal and reduction of pollutants and waste. These initiatives aimed to enhance employees' environmental awareness and improve their compliance with operational standards.

    In 2024, our direct nitrogen oxide (NOx)  emission is 0.679 tons.

    • In 2024,Proya has established a top-down ESG management structure, overseen by the Board of Directors and the Strategy Committee, which is responsible for supervising ESG-related topics, including the topic of "climate change mitigation and adaptation," to ensure alignment with the Company's needs. The ESG Management Committee under the Board of Directors and the Strategy Committee is responsible for supervising and guiding the climate change plan, formulating and supervising the implementation of climate change performance objectives, and developing climate change incentive policies. It operates under the oversight of the Board of Directors and the Strategy Committee. The ESG Implementation Team under the ESG Management Committee is the core team for climate change management.

      We have conducted a preliminary climate risk analysis and assessment with reference to the disclosure framework of International Financial Reporting Sustainable Disclosure Standard No.2 -Climate-related Disclosure ("IFRS S2") issued by the International Sustainable Standards Board (ISSB) and in combination with our business characteristics. We have identified climate risks and potential opportunities directly related to assets and operations, and have taken measures to effectively address the identified risks and opportunities.

      We have established a systematic process for managing climate-related risks and opportunities, covering identification, assessment, and monitoring. This enhances our resilience to climate-related risks while uncovering potential value and opportunities within our business operations.

      Carbon neutrality pathway across the entire value chain
      By 2025:
      The proportion of clean energy will reach 50%,and carbon peak will be accomplished in business operation.
      Greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1 and Scope 2) per unit of product will decrease by 25% compared to 2021.
      We will drive all strategic partners to reduce carbon emissions through value chain carbon reduction initiatives and incentives.
      By 2030:
      We will achieve net zero emissions from our operations.
      By 2045:
      We will achieve carbon neutrality across our entire value chain.

      The proportion of clean energy usage reached 46.66%, while greenhouse gas emissions per unit of product (Scope 1 and 2) decreased by 18.46% over the baseline year.

    In 2024, using our "sustainable product assessment model", we completed an life-cycle assessment of Proya Double Effect Brightening Essence 3.0, accounting for 8.02% of total products (by total sales revenue).

    • In September 2023, Proya Huzhou Factory won the title of "Zhejiang Provincial Green Low-carbon Factory in 2023".

    • In 2022, the Huzhou skincare factory planned and implemented 14 cleaner production programs. These programs covered resource conservation, pollutant reduction, energy conservation, and emission reduction. Reduced 4,400 tons wastewater, 0.17 tons COD and 0.001 tons ammonia-nitrogen;Reduced 3 tons of hazardous waste;Reduced 322.73 tons CO2 carbon emissions;Saved 565.9 MWh electricity;Saved 3,000 Nm³ natural gas;Saved RMB108,000 worth raw material;Saved 4,600 m³ water.

    • In 2022, we carried out a cleaner production audit, identified energy-saving items to be improved, and formulated implementation plans. In terms of energy conservation and consumption reduction, we have adopted several energy-saving and technology upgrade projects such as purchasing permanent magnet frequency conversion oil-free screw air compressors and automating production lines. We also take measures, such as replacing clean energy and optimizing distribution routes, to reduce the use of fossil energy in the production process.

    • In 2022, we developed the Daily Power Saving Plan of Proya Building and Orderly Power Consumption Regulation Plan of Proya Building, advocating that employees turn off lights and air conditioners when leaving the Company. Property management personnel made regular inspections to turn off lights in unused areas to avoid wasting electricity. While ensuring employees' demands for minimum electricity, we took measures such as turning off certain air conditioners in the office area and reducing excess underground lighting to minimize office power consumption.

    • Proya's production base (skincare factory) used 1,500 wind-powered fans to replace electric fans in our warehouse air conditioning system. The wind-powered fans use wind energy and therefore do not produce carbon emissions and can reduce power consumption;

    • We installed a 2 MVA photovoltaic power storage system on the roof of our 25,000m² factory at the Huzhou Production Base (skincare factory), with annual power generation exceeding 2 million kWh. The generated power is prioritized for our own use, and the surplus can be supplied to the national grid.

    • The boiler room of Proya's Huzhou Production Base (skincare factory) completed two upgrades including the "solar auxiliary heating system", which uses solar energy to preheat the water in the boiler room and then switches to natural gas after the temperature rises. With this upgrade, more than 6,000m3 of natural gas was saved each month, greatly reducing the emissions of waste gas and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere;

    • Proya's Huzhou Production Base (skincare factory) uses an "air compressor heat recovery system" provided by IR to fully utilize the heat generated by the air compressor, producing 40 tons of hot water each day for the canteen, material barrel cleaning, process water heating, etc. The annual storage of thermal energy amounts to saving 155 tons of standard coal and reducing 30 tons of carbon dioxide emissions;

    • In Proya's Huzhou Production Base (skincare factory), we managed our factory operations digitally using a fully-automated stereoscopic warehouse model. We use an intelligent electronic scheduling system to optimize equipment operation, vehicle dispatch, cargo loading, etc. in order to reduce energy consumption;

    • We invested approximately RMB 100,000 in the power distribution facilities of Proya's Huzhou Production Base (skincare factory) to upgrade the reactive power compensation device. This can improve the power supply environment and efficiency;

    • In 2014, Proya collaborated with the Norwegian Embassy to jointly contribute to the special fund of UN Women, and launched the "Climate Change and Women Protection" program to seek effective measures to address women's health issues caused by climate change.
